I cannot think of a more appropriate word to characterize the Merit Option...
Hey there everyone and welcome to the Merit Option! My name is Meridith, and I am the founder of this unique and innovative patient advocacy business.
The Merit Option has been a long time coming, (15+ years, really) and I have put my heart and soul into this enterprise, hoping to leave some sort of positive mark on this world.
Most of you probably know a little bit about me, what I stand for, and what I am passionate about. To those who don't-welcome! After exploring my website, I believe you will begin to understand who I am and furthermore, "My Why." It's an odd time to be launching this business of mine if I'm being quite honest, yet somehow it seems like the perfect time. Our world is hurting, grappling with pain, anger, frustration, and fear. But as many of us know, change is often born out of heartache.
Therefore we must ask ourselves; how can we channel these feelings into an opportunity for transformation? How do we challenge the antiquated systems, environments, and attitudes we dwell in to promote what is right, what is just, what is good? It is a difficult process and one that will take more than a day's work. But baby steps will add up to large strides, eventually paving the way towards progress.
This is what I have done with the Merit Option. My experience with chronic illness plunged me into unknown territory. Little by little I used my voice, inviting others to join me on my journey with the hope to spark some sort of interest in creating change for people with chronic illness and invisible disabilities.
Much progress has been made, but there is still more to do. Whether you choose to speak or to listen, I welcome you to the conversation because in my eyes; everyone deserves a seat at the table.
